February 19–21, 2025
Butler Theater, Fayetteville State University

Step into a haunted graveyard where memory, spirit, and performance intertwine. A Very Black History is not a play you sit and watch—it’s an experience you enter. As you move through Butler Theater’s halls and chambers, you’ll encounter ghosts, historic voices, and embodied spirits who rise to tell stories of Blackness as lived experience, cultural inheritance, and creative force.
Created and performed by Fayetteville State University students and artists from the wider community, this immersive production blurs the lines between theatre, ritual, and gathering. It is at once performance and procession, memory and imagination, haunting and celebration.
